POSITION
Summary:
Support the human resource related objectives. Utilize experience to assist in and strengthen HR functions including but not limited to: strategic management, employee and labor relations, safety, organizational development, staffing, compensation and benefits.
ESSENTIAL
Responsibilities:
Assist in the facilitation of union/management activities, including the interpretation and administration of labor contracts to ensure accuracy, consistency and fairness.
Participate in contract negotiations.
Coordinate employment activities and manage discipline, grievance & arbitration processes for specified departments in the mill.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and managers at all levels.
Assist in the development of policies and procedures.
Manage salary hiring and orientation process.
Manage the overall salaried training and development efforts and support the hourly training initiatives.
Supervise the hourly payroll process.
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
7
years of HR experience, including at least 5 in a supervisory role.
3
years of HR experience in union environment.
Considerable knowledge of employee relations principles and practices.
Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and decision making skills.
Ability to champion change and influence others at all levels of the organization.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
PHR or SPHR preferred.
